Frequently asked questions.
What issues can you help with?
I work with adults who are navigating grief and bereavement, as well as those impacted by trauma, anxiety, depression, or major life changes. You don’t need to be in crisis to come to therapy — it can also be a space for self-discovery, healing, and support during difficult times.
What is counselling/psychotherapy and how does it work?
Counselling and psychotherapy provide a safe, supportive space to talk about your thoughts, feelings, and experiences with a trained professional. Through open and honest conversations, therapy can help you build healthier coping skills, increase your self-awareness, and gain a better understanding of patterns that may be affecting your life.
It can also support you in developing more fulfilling relationships, with yourself and with others, by helping you explore your emotions, needs, and ways of communicating. The work is collaborative, meaning we will move at your pace and focus on what matters most to you.
How do I know if therapy is right for me?
If you are feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or simply want a space where you can be heard without judgment, therapy might be helpful. You don’t have to be sure before starting — our first session is an opportunity to explore whether it feels like the right fit for you.
What can I expect in the 20-minute consultation?
The consultation is a chance for us to briefly meet and talk about what brings you to therapy. You can ask any questions you might have, and I will explain how I will work with you. There’s no obligation to book further sessions — it’s simply an opportunity to see if you feel comfortable and if we might be a good fit to work together. If you decide to work with me, you can book the first session and we will start to work together.
What can I expect in the first session?
In our first session, we will go through a working agreement (also called contracting) to make sure we are on the same page about how we will work together, in terms of confidentiality, cancellation policy, and price. Then I will invite you to share what you would like to discuss or explore in our sessions, and we will talk about what you hope to get from therapy. I will explain how we can work towards those goals / needs, so you have a clear sense of what to expect as we move forward.
How much do sessions cost and how do I pay?
Sessions for 50 minutes cost £50. Payment must be made at least 24 hours before your appointment. I offer a concessionary price for students and trainee counsellors.
How often will we meet and how long are the sessions?
Most people meet weekly for consistency and momentum, but this can be flexible depending on your needs. Each session lasts for 50 minutes. We can review the frequency as therapy progresses.
What is your cancellation policy?
If you cannot attend a session or need to reschedule, you agree to give at least 48 hours’ notice. If you need to cancel or rearrange an appointment, please let me know with as much notice as possible. I will go through the policy in detail in our first session.
Do you offer online or in-person sessions (or both)? How do you work?
I currently offer online sessions via video, audio, and text. I use Google Meet as my working platform. You can choose the type that feels most comfortable and accessible for you.
Is the service confidential?
Yes, therapy is confidential. This means what you share stays between us, except in rare circumstances where there are concerns about serious harm to you or others. I will explain this fully in our first session so you know exactly what to expect.
What qualifications and experience do you have?
I hold a Master’s degree in Integrative Counselling and I am a registered member of British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I also hold a Master’s degree in Intercultural Communication so I am aware of cultural sensibility, and issues with difference and diversity.
I have experience supporting adults through bereavement, grief, trauma, anxiety related issues, and topics around relationships, family and life transitions. I receive regular clinical supervision to ensure the best possible care for my clients.
What if I don’t feel comfortable or want to stop therapy?
It is important that therapy feels right for you. You are always in control and can stop at any time. If you feel unsure, we can talk openly about it, sometimes these conversations can be an important part of the therapeutic process.
